Anya Mckee
Since graduating with BA Arts (Dance) Honours from WAAPA in 2011, Anya has worked as a dancer with Kate Champion’s Force Majeure for ‘Culminate’ (CarriageWorks, August 2012), performed along-side Chunky Move in Gideon Obarzanek’s ‘Assembly’ (Sydney Festival Jan 2012), danced in Philip Brophy’s ‘Stadium’ as part of Performance Space’s opening night for SEXES live art program (Carriageworks, Oct. 2012), and continued to work with director Sam Chester in the development of 'Rupture' (2013).
2012 saw Anya selected for a Jump Mentorship grant from the Australia Council with mentor Sue Healey where she had a 1st development of work in progress ‘Fit To Shift’ (Sept. 2012). In 2013 Anya received an Ausdance Space residency developing 'Fit To Shift further to show as part of Dance Massive Open Studios 2013 in Melbourne.
Currently Anya is one of 10 founding members of Dance Makers Collective (DMC), a community of emerging independent dance artists in Sydney who with the support of Ausdance NSW and FORM Dance Projects are looking forward to a season in 2013 at Riverside Theatre October 2013.
Anya's latest film 'The Door' (featured here on Vimeo has screened at NexT International Film Festival (Bucharest, Romania, March 2012) and The Third Coast Dance Festival (Houston TX, Sept. 2012).
